Passions

What I'm really into

Three things that get me out of bed early and keep me up late. All of them reward patience, preparation and being willing to suffer a little.

01

Ultra Marathons

Anything past 26.2 stops being a race and turns into a problem-solving exercise: fueling, pacing, feet, head. That's the part I love.

The Texas Hill Country makes for honest training: heat, rocks and short, punchy climbs. Long weekend runs are where I do my best thinking. Swap this paragraph for your own story: your first ultra, the hardest mile, the aid-station food you still dream about.

Rules I run by

  • Eat before you're hungry, drink before you're thirsty.
  • Walk the hills early so you can run them late.
  • "Beware the chair" at aid stations.
  • It never always gets worse.

Kit I trust

  • Shoes: your pick here
  • Vest: your pick here
  • Fuel: your pick here
  • Watch: your pick here

02

Skiing

First chair, cold air, nobody else's tracks. Skiing is the one sport where gravity is on my side.

Replace this with how you got into it, who you ski with and the run you'd take if you only had one left. Trip photos fit nicely in the gallery below.

Mountains I love

  • Mountain — why it's on the list
  • Mountain — why it's on the list

Bucket list

  • Heli-skiing in British Columbia
  • Hut-to-hut touring in the Alps
  • Japan powder in January

03

Woodworking

After years of building teams and businesses, it's satisfying to build something you can actually pick up.

Furniture, gifts and the occasional woodburned ornament. Every project teaches me something about measuring twice. Add your favorite builds below, each with a photo and a line about what went right (or wrong).

In the shop

  • Pyrography pen (see: snowman)
  • Your favorite saw
  • Your favorite plane or chisel
  • The tool you swear you'll learn to use
